Demo Derby in a v8 Supercar? Sounds like fun - it sure is. Especially when there are teams of two and the rule is that you can't let your team mate come last.

We also played the normal RAW WAR and Top Gun Games.

Top Gun - cumulative results to June - are attached.

RAW WAR 2006 Round 5 Results

RAW WAR went well with all games bar settlers finishing on time. Settlers had to be called on the time limit as it went over 90 minutes.

6 May 2006 RAW WAR Results

The May LAN was a lot of FUN!

V8 Supercars 2 was awesome with everybody playing in 2 servers simultaneously. We played 9 tracks of formula ford and they were surprisingly good.

Far Cry ran smoothly wihout Punkbuster and we used Game Cam successfully to record each entire match.
The first map we played was an assualt map named Arctico and was quite difficult to crack. N3urot3ch's team managed to hold out longer than Bosom Buddyss Team. However they got flogged in the Team Death Match thanks to Nightshades accurate shooting and not dying! It certainly helps to have the reigning Top Gun Champ on your side!

TOP GUN IN MAY

20060506 toggun

The top gun for this month was Nightshade taking it out with 56 Frags. Wondering how much diffrent it would of been if Penguinboy had been there. We played on the Radio Tower map. It was very close combat at most times. The end scores were not so close. This month went a lot smoother with gamecam working well so we could track back when someone dropped out so all scores could be as accurate as possible. Having Punkbuster turned off seems to be the way to go.

1 April 2006 LAN results

1st April LAN - April Fools day - was a great one!

There was a good number of people including a bunch of new people - I think we had 22 all up.

Topgun was hotly contested again, though we had some lag issues - due to punkbuster. We will trial turning it off next LAN.

Full results attached in PDF format, or click the small picture here to see the main scores and ranks. Remember that scores are averaged over your 4 best results. As we have only recorded 2 results so far this year average percentage scores are halved. Average frags however are exactly right.

RAW WAR was well organised by Wayne again.
We have ensured that scores are averaged across attended games so even if you drop one game in V8's for example it won't affect your score.
Here are Waynes comments:
I've added the racing servers together, taking into account the scores achieved by players that weren't in every race, and allocating a ranking to each player's score across both servers. This gives a greater disparity of scores, the same as the shooter. If only we could do it with the strategy, but people like to play different ones, so that's the way it has to be.

April 2006 LAN RAW WAR

Additionally we have doubled all the scores for all events so far in the strategy category so as to make the strategy games overall weight consistently with the other genres. This is due to having only 1 game in FPS and Racing, and 3 or more in Strategy.

4th March LAN Review and results

4th of March LAN saw a good turn out of regulars with 2 new people and a couple of occassional visitors. Good to see you all there!

The action kicked off fast and furious with the First Top Gun event of the year. Unfortunately the server crashed about 16 minutes into a 20 minute match. We have used these scores anyway as with the new percentage based scoring system it doesn't matter. Thanks to Nightshade for giving me the idea on how to make this work.

Without Wayne to run the RAW WAR (he was in Japan) I was a little worried it might not go too smoothly. However my fears were unrealised and it seemed all had a great time. We had screen dumps (or scores recorded) for every game except the last race of V8's so we used the first 8 only here.
Powerslide guys need to remember to take sccreen dumps after every race not just at the end. We were able to work out the results however. Likewise DOTA and Generals players please give us your actual scores and ranking next time not just who won.

One point to remember is the way the scores are worked for all the RAW WAR Games. Rather than record the score we record the ranks. That is if there are 5 players in a server and you win you get 5 points. If there are only 2 players you only get 2 points. If there are 12 then you get 12. So it generally pays to play in a server with the most people in it as this is more likely to get you more points.

Finally for both Top Gun and RAW WAR the scores are going to be recorded for the entire year, but only the top 4 results for each player in each genre will be averaged to see who is the winner.

I have attached the results for Top Gun and the RAW WAR events for March as PDF files. Click the header to see them.

Tell us what you thought about the LAN. How can we improve it?
